The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) recently introduced the use of the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to ease the flow of traffic and improve safety on highways.

NHAI Chief General Manager (CGM) Akhilesh Srivastava mulled the ATMS to execute in part the Central government鈥檚 proposal to modernise India鈥檚 highways. The NHAI is currently focusing on installing Incident Management System (IMS), which is a core function of the ATMS. With the IMS, it is possible for authorities to deploy help within 15 minutes of the incident in cases of emergencies.
